During the 2018 International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, the spin-off “Dronistics” from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne presented its
safe foldable drone for parcel delivery
The drone called the “PackDrone” is a quadcopter integrated inside a foldable protective cage. The cage separates propellers from the external environment, making the drone safe for people. Moreover, the cage protects elements of the drone while flying close to obstacles. The parcel is enclosed in that structure and is easily accessible.
These features give a unique opportunity to rapidly deliver parcels to people located in places where there is little or no place to land, such as: in debris, traffic jam, construction site, mega-processing plants, or boat, just to name a few.
Moreover, the drone can be easily folded to drastically reduce its size for storage or transportation to the place of deployment.
The drone is guided with a state-of-the-art Apps also developed by the Team.
During the exhibition, the “PackDrone” received three awards: Audience Award, Special Award of the President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, and Award of the President of the Association of Portuguese Inventors.
